Rezumat: Artificial intelligence was not born in a legal vacuum. Despite that, new national and international regulations are necessary to strengthen the positive potentials of AI and to prevent or mitigate its negative potentials. This article was written to underline the importance of the preparation of a Draft Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law within the Council of Europe. The article will also turn attention to eventual shortcomings of the Draft.

Roland O. Thomasson, General Stefan Gusa, the Soviets, and the Ghost of Pavel Corut in the Indictment of the Revolution File

Rezumat: The author show in this article, that the toxic legacy of the Ceausescu regime’s appropriation, exploitation, and use of anti-Soviet/anti-Russian nationalism is critical for understanding how historical research on and judicial investigations of the Ceausescu and initial post-Ceausescu eras, especially the Romanian Revolution of December 1989, have been packaged, marketed, received, and circulated in post-communist Romania. He illustrates this point by looking at the claims made in the Indictment in the Revolution File regarding Army General Stefan Gusa and his alleged forestalling of direct Soviet intervention in Romania in December 1989, and the concomitant alleged non-existence of counterrevolutionary forces; and the reactions of Romanian media and intellectuals to the Indictment’s claims.

Gabriel Andreescu, Represiunea grupărilor care promovează „erotismul sacru” – o temă a Conferinței CESNUR din anul 2024 (I)

Rezumat: Cercetarea a avut ca reper panelul „Raiduri militarizate și renașterea teoriei spălării creierului - Perspective emice și etice”, parte a Conferinței CESNUR din luna iunie 2024, dedicat acțiunilor represive la care au fost supuși membrii unor grupări care urmează practici de natura „erotismului sacru”. Prima parte a studiului analizează rolul CESNUR în cunoașterea academică a noilor mișcări religioase, ridică tema legitimității statului de a interveni în spațiul privat al acestor mișcări și o pune în contextul sistemului de protecție a copiilor, considerat reperul obligatoriu. Este documentată utilizarea forței de către autorități împotriva practicanților erotismului sacru - care include tratamente inumane și degradante - apreciată drept excesivă și nejustificată. Câteva observații privesc marginalizarea temei discriminării în cazul adepților erotismului sacru. Evaluarea acțiunilor represive împotriva unor grupuri din România, Republica Cehă, Italia, Franța, Argentina a fost făcută în dialog cu sistemul de protecție a drepturilor omului dezvoltat de Consiliul Europei.
